Institute Innovation Council (IIC)

The Institute Innovation Council (IIC) is dedicated to fostering a vibrant culture of innovation and incubation among faculty and students at IIIT-D. Our mission is to drive creativity and entrepreneurial spirit, resulting in the establishment of successful startups. These ventures, promoted and owned by our talented faculty and students, showcase the innovative potential and collaborative efforts within our community. By fostering collaboration and a proactive mindset, the IIC is dedicated to making IIIT-D a hub of innovation, where ideas are turned into reality, and the next generation of entrepreneurs is born.

IIC'S ACTIVITIES

The following are key activities involved in the Institution's Innovation Council (IIC):

Promoting Innovation

This includes encouraging experimentation, supporting risk-taking, and providing resources and opportunities for individuals and teams to explore new concepts. By valuing diverse perspectives and staying open to change, organizations and societies can drive progress and achieve groundbreaking solutions.

Supporting Entrepreneurs

This includes offering access to funding, business advice, and practical tools, as well as creating a nurturing environment that encourages risk-taking and growth. Effective support helps entrepreneurs navigate challenges and scale their businesses, driving economic and social impact.

Building Startup Ecosystem

It includes cultivating a collaborative community, facilitating access to funding and talent, and promoting an entrepreneurial culture. A well-developed ecosystem enhances the chances of startup success and drives innovation and economic growth.

Major Focus Areas

To create a vibrant local innovation ecosystem.
Start-up/entrepreneurship supporting Mechanism in HEIs.
Prepare the institute for Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements Framework (ARIIA).
Establish Function Ecosystem for Scouting Ideas and Pre-incubation of Ideas.
Develop better Cognitive Ability amongst Technology Students.

Functions

To conduct various innovation and entrepreneurship-related activities prescribed by Central MIC in a time-bound fashion.
Identify and reward innovations and share success stories.
Organize periodic workshops/seminars/interactions with entrepreneurs, investors, professionals and create a mentor pool for student innovators.
Network with peers and national entrepreneurship development organizations.
Create an Institution’s Innovation portal to highlight innovative projects carried out by institution’s faculty and students.
Organize Hackathons, idea competitions, mini-challenges, etc. with the involvement of industries.
